Cloword

Cloword is a word game about the alphabet. A five-letter word is hidden somewhere in the dictionary, and you find it by closing in from both sides. HOW IT PLAYS Every guess must be a real word. It takes its place on the board: above the hidden word if it comes first in the alphabet, below it if it comes after, and it stays there as a new bound. The answer is always between the two bounds, and the window only ever closes. Each bound tells you how many dictionary words still separate it from the answer. Counted in words, not letters, so the feedback stays sharp right to the last guess. You have fifteen guesses a round. WHAT HELPS • The row you type in turns green for a real word inside the window, slate for a real word outside it, and red for something that isn't a word. You never learn anything about the answer without spending a guess. • A letter tracker shows which letters the window still allows at the next position. • A range strip shows where in the window the answer lies, once you have played a guess. A REAL ENGLISH DICTIONARY Thousands of five-letter English words, British and American spellings alike, with the answers drawn from the common ones. NOT ONLY IN ENGLISH Cloword plays in more than one language, each with its own dictionary. Switch whenever you like; the next word is in the new one. ONE WORD A DAY IS FREE Play one word every day, for free, for ever. What this page does not show

The teardown — how it actually charges, which mechanism was found, and the seam worth taking — is in the daily letter. This page carries the record and the signals so search engines and link previews have something real to read; the judgement stays with the readers who asked for it.
